The Mission Parish School Cheerleading Squad is comprised of 7th
and 8th grade students. In addition to cheering for the many top
ranked sports teams at Mission School throughout the year, this
award winning squad cheers at several school events such as the
first day of school, Jog-A-Thon, Red Ribbon Week, The Academic Decathlon
Pep Rally and The Swallow's Day Parade.
Tryouts for the following year's squad are held in the spring.
Applicants are taught a routine that they perform in front of a
panel of judges comprised of teachers, administrators and outside
professional judges. The squad practices throughout the summer to
prepare for the upcoming school year and attends summer camp to
learn new material and increase squad unity.
The Mission School Cheerleaders have won several awards at regional
and national competitions. They recently took home a first place
finish at the Asics Regional Cheer Competition. The many awards
and accolades presented to the school's squads every year are a
testimony of our students' school spirit and pride.
